Sue Wilson, Huron, Ohio and Soldotna, Alaska

Andrews

Sue Wilson’s quiltmaking took a radical turn when she attended one of Betty Cotton’s very first “Cotton Theory” classes. Sue was instantly hooked on the reversible, dimensional quilts that resulted, and laid aside 25 years of traditional quilting to pursue Cotton Theory with a passion. She began working for Betty Cotton in 2007, and frequently accompanies Betty as a teaching assistant or in the Cotton Theory booth at quilting shows. When she is not with Betty, you will often find Sue teaching Cotton Theory classes to quilting groups across the country.

Along with Cotton Theory, Sue has always been a fan of Judy Niemeyer’s exquisite paper pieced quilts, and a frequent student in Judy’s classes. When Judy asked Sue to become one of her certified teachers, she jumped at the chance. Besides teaching Judy’s existing patterns, Sue is working with Judy to create projects which combine the best of Cotton Theory with the beauty of Judy Niemeyer quilts (www.quiltworx.com). Sue’s students frequently remark on her patience, her knowledge, her enthusiasm, and her ability to help them achieve success! Once quilters have studied Cotton Theory or have made a Judy Niemeyer quilt with Sue, they frequently want to learn more. She is certified as a Premium Cotton Theory teacher by Betty Cotton and is one of JudyNiemeyer’s 14 national certified teachers. Sue has been honored to teach for shops, guilds and shows around the country.
